I have a 06' Chevy Duramax 4×4 and I hear from a lor of people that they are getting about 18 miles per gallon!
Then I ask what they get when towing a RV! anf they say they are getting about 14 mpg! I am only getting about 11 1/2 mpg, when towing my fifth wheel, which weighs about 9000 lbs. Could there be something wrong with my truck? I have a bully dog programmer in my truck that I run at about 95 extra horse power. and it seems to work well with just regular driving, I also have a K&N air filter I installed, that is suppose to help a little. Like I said I wonder if something is wrong with my trucks towing or if it is just kindive normal? I also just to give as much info as possible am running 245 size tires which are factory standards. any help would be appreciated thanks
I have an 06 with BD and the allison., it gets 12 pullin trailer and truck,+ 4000lbs in pullin weights. Lots of power but crappy milage..lol its the way it goes.

I'm designing a trailer, probably teardrop-shaped, and I'm searching for information regarding optimal design. I haven't found much in the way of specific information, so any info is appreciated. How is does slope relate to drag coefficient? Is there a specific equation which can determine the drag coefficient of a slope? I assume that the front of the trailer should have a greater slope than the rear…

In incompressible flow, there sadly isn't a nice equation that gives you Cd being equal to the sin of the angle times something-something. The good news is, there are fairly user friendly programs that you can plug in the points of your trailer (airfoil) and out comes lift and drag etc. Sub2D is a free one since the organization is no more but I might be hard to find. Try DesignFoil or Profili but may be a small investment.
Manually plugging in points is a tedious task of holding your cursor over the image of your 2D trailer in a Microsoft Paint image and getting coordinates unless they allow an more advanced import. Better yet, find a friend with a CFD program and ask them to kindly run your trailer through it.

Hubby will be retiring next Oct. We plan to travel with our fifth wheel and truck to the Southwest United States. Anyone have good ideas of where to stay for up to 2 months at a time? Rv Parks etc???
In Vegas, there is an RV park at the Circus Circus right on the strip. Two months there would be awesome. Then you have great access to a lot of places within a short distance, Death Valley, CA is 2 hours away, Grand Canyon is 4 hours away, Lake Mead is right next door, Bryce and Zion are a couple hours drive. There's nonstop stuff to do and places to go, and when you get tired of the outdoors, go gamble and have a buffet.
